💡 Note: Checkout extensibility, including the ability to add custom checkout blocks is exclusively available on Shopify Plus plans. This feature is not available on Basic, Shopify, or Advanced plans.
Step 1: Access the Shopify Theme Editor
Start from your Shopify admin dashboard and navigate to the Online Store themes section.
Log in to your Shopify admin at admin.shopify.com
In the left sidebar, click Online Store under Sales channels
Click Themes from the submenu
On your current theme (e.g., Dawn), click Edit theme
Step 2: Confirm App Embeds Are Configured
Before editing the checkout, verify that the 99minds Gift Card & Loyalty app embed is enabled for your theme. This ensures the widget has access to the storefront.
In the Theme Editor, click the App embeds icon (puzzle piece) in the left sidebar
Locate 99minds Loyalty Widget under 99minds GiftCard & Loyalty Pro
Ensure the toggle is enabled (blue/on)
Click Save if you made any changes
Step 3: Navigate to the Checkout Page
The checkout widget must be added through the checkout template editor, which is separate from the regular homepage/product page editor.
In the Theme Editor, click the page dropdown at the top center (it will show "Home page" by default)
From the dropdown menu, select Checkout and customer accounts
The editor will reload to show the Checkout page template
Step 4: Add the 99minds Checkout Loyalty Block
Once you are in the Checkout page editor, you can add the loyalty extension block to the checkout layout.
In the left sidebar under the Checkout editor, scroll down to locate the section where you want to add the block (recommended: Order summary or Main section)
Click the + Add block button in the relevant section
A block search panel will appear — search for "99minds GiftCard & Loyalty Pro" or scroll to find it
Select 99minds Checkout Loyalty from the list
Step 5: Configure the Checkout Loyalty Block
After adding the block, you can configure its behavior and preview how it appears at checkout.
Click on the 99minds Checkout Loyalty block in the left sidebar to select it
In the settings panel, you will see the option to toggle Include block in Shop Pay
Enable or disable this setting based on your store's Shop Pay integration needs
Review the live preview, the extension will display an "Unlock exclusive rewards!" prompt to customers who are not logged in
Step 6: Review and Save
Before saving, review the checkout page preview to confirm the 99minds Checkout Loyalty block is appearing correctly in the checkout flow.
Scroll through the checkout preview on the right side of the editor
Confirm the loyalty block appears below the Payment section with the "Unlock exclusive rewards!.." message
Verify the block is listed in the left sidebar under the correct section (e.g., 99minds Checkout Loyalty under Main)
Click the Save button in the top right corner to publish your changes
