Step-by-Step: Selling a Physical Gift Card
1. Open Shopify POS
Launch the Shopify POS app on your store device.
2. Add the Customer (Optional but Recommended)
Tap Add Customer
Search by name, email, or phone
Select the customer
This helps with sending receipts and linking the gift card to their profile.
3. Add the Physical Gift Card Product to Cart
Tap Products
Search for “Physical Gift Card” or browse your Gift Card collection
Select the Gift Card product
Tap Add to Cart
4. Enter the Gift Card Value
Depending on your setup:
The POS may prompt you to enter a custom gift card amount,
ORYou may choose from preset denominations (e.g., ₹500, ₹1000, ₹2000)
Enter or select the amount.
Tap Confirm.
5. Scan or Enter the Physical Gift Card Code
You will now be prompted to link a physical card to the purchase.
You can:
Scan the barcode on the physical gift card, or
Manually enter the gift card number
Once done, tap Next / Confirm.
The POS will now activate the card through 99minds.
6. Complete Checkout
Proceed with the normal checkout steps:
Tap Charge
Select the payment method (Cash, Card, UPI, etc.)
Complete the transaction
After payment:
The gift card gets activated automatically
The customer receives a receipt
The card becomes ready for use
Post-Purchase Experience
For the Customer
They will receive:
A physical gift card with the loaded balance
An optional SMS/email receipt with activation confirmation
A scannable or enterable code for future purchases
For the Store
The transaction appears in Shopify orders
99minds dashboard shows the card activated with:
Gift card code
Amount
Customer details (if added)
Troubleshooting
Card Not Scanning
Enter the code manually
Ensure the card is supported by 99minds
Activation Failed
Check internet connection
Make sure the gift card product is mapped in 99minds
Try resyncing Shopify POS
